Community Outreach & Visitation

G.R.O.W. Teams

People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care!

NEWS!

GROW Ministry Meeting is every first and third Tuesday, at 6:30pm in the Couples I Sunday school class.

 G.R.O.W. Teams & Assignments

Purpose

The objective of the G.R.O.W. (God Rewards Our Work) teams is to involve 100% of our membership in an in-reach and outreach program.

The Five Principles of GROW:

1. Sowing and Reaping.

Matthew 13:54-58 Our preparation involves sowing seeds of testimony and love in expectation of the mighty works of Jesus.Galatians 6:7 If no seeds are planted, there will be no harvest.

2. Involving Every Member.

Matthew 4:19 Every person who follows will be a fisher of men.  If you are not fishing, then you are not following. Matthew 28:19 "As you go" means that every member is to be involved in the Great Commission.

3. Having Fun with Outreach.

Nothing is more exciting than leading someone into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. An atmosphere of expectation results in vibrant, positive, and growing churches.

4. Making Quality Time Greater Than Quantity Time.

This principle allows the flexibility to remain faithful to the evangelistic outreach ministry of the church and to continue to be involved in other ministry opportunities.

5. Reaching Out by Divine Appointment.

Acts 8:26-31 This principle recognizes that God is already in the process of dealing with the hearts and lives of men, women, boys, and girls all over the world.

Yes, God does reward our work and God gives the increase. As Paul wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor." (1 Corinthians 3:6-8)  As FBCW continues to be faithful to our GROW outreach commitments, we can trust God to bring the reward!

Priorities

1.     Our first priority is first time visitors of our church or Sunday school.

2.     Our second priority is past visitors/prospects of our church or Sunday school.

3.     Our third priority is members of our church who have missed three consecutive Sundays – MIA’s.

4.     Our fourth priority is members of our church we have not seen in months – POW’s.

Procedures

First Time Visitors

  • First time visitors will be contacted following their Sunday visit. This contact is nothing more than to say "Thanks for visiting with us and we hope to see you again."

Second Time Visitors

  • Second time visitors will receive a personal visit on the Tuesday night following their second visit. They will be given a "Visitor Welcome Packet." Second time visitors are obviously somewhat interested in our church so this visit should be an informative visit about our church. Team members making these visits should know what is going on in our church and how to answer possible questions about our church.
  • Second time visitors will receive a personal phone call during the latter part of the week. By this time, they will have had a chance to look at the "Visitor Welcome Packet," and may have some questions. Team members who make phone calls should be informed about events at the church and be prepared to answer questions about our church and its ministries. Team members who make phone calls will ask the visitor if they would like for a minister to visit them the next Monday. A report sheet will be filled out on each call and returned to your team leader.

MIA’s – Missing In Action

  • These people are active people in our church who have for some reason missed three consecutive Sundays. These people need to know they are missed and should receive a phone call or card letting them know it.
  • A list of MIA’s will be provide every Monday and team members will be provided sample letters and questions to ask for phone calls. Team members may make the calls from the church or from their home.

POW’s – Prisoners of the World

  • These people have been taken prisoner by the world and for some reason have not attended Sunday school in months. Whatever the reason, these people need to be contacted and loved.
  • A list of POW’s will be provide every quarter and team members will be provided sample letters and questions to ask for phone calls. Team members may make the calls from the church or from their home.

A Normal GROW Night

  • Every Tuesday will be a specific G, R, O, or W night. Members of the G-Team will attend one Tuesday, R-Team the next Tuesday, the O-Team the next, and the W-Team the next. It will then begin again with the G-Team. Fifth Tuesdays all teams will meet.

People

In order for our GROW teams to be effective we need people –YOU!

GROW Leaders

  • We need four GROW leaders, a G-leader, R-leader, O-leader, W-leader
  • GROW Leaders will help organize and communicate to their Team Leaders on their specific GROW night.
  • GROW Leaders will help recruit Team Leaders and Team Members to be present on their GROW night
  • GROW Leaders are Team Members too.

Team Leaders

  • A Team Leader will represent a Sunday school department or class GROW team. (Each class or department will have four teams, a G-Team, R-Team, O-Team, and W-Team)
  • Team Leaders will help communicate to their Team Members for their specific GROW nights as well as encourage and recruit more Team Members from their Sunday school class or department.
  • Team Leaders are Team Members too.

Team Members

  • Team Members are asked to COMMIT to one Monday a month for one year. If a few do it all, the few get burned out; if ALL will do a little, we ALL are blessed.
  • Team Members can serve in many ways:
  • We are asking for twelve nights a year. God can’t bless our work if we don’t do the work and God will not reward our work if we have no workers. If you cannot attend on your Tuesday, we ask that you contact the Out reach Director and make your visits later in the week or make up your night for the month on another G.R.O.W. night.  Yet another option is to just switch with someone on another team.  However you decide remember, your visit is important!
  • Please prayerfully consider your commitment and role in the GROW ministry.

Please take your COMMITMENT seriously.
